Your AI coach
lives in your pocket

Plans, macros, recovery and hype — all tuned to how you actually train. GymLog AI reads every set you log and rewrites tomorrow around it.

One app, four jobs

Everything a training day asks of you

Most people run a workout tracker, a calorie app, a notes file and a spreadsheet. GymLog AI is one log — which is the only way the coach can see the whole picture.

Train

Log a set in one tap. Beat it next week.

Your plan opens to today's session with last week's numbers already in place. Hit the weight, hit the reps, move on — the rest timer starts itself.

  • Prefilled targets from your last performance, with RPE and PR detection built in.
  • An exercise library with muscle maps, cues and instant search — all of it searchable offline.
  • Drag to reorder a session, swap an exercise, or skip a day — the plan adapts instead of breaking.
  • Rest timer & volume totals that keep running when the screen locks.

Fuel

Macros without the data entry

Scan a barcode, photograph a plate, or reach for a favourite you log every morning. Targets move with your goal, your bodyweight and what you actually lifted today.

  • Barcode scanner for anything with a label.
  • AI meal recognition — one photo, an itemised estimate you can correct before it lands.
  • Planned vs logged diet plans, so you can build the day in advance and just tick it off.
  • Water tracking with a target that scales to your bodyweight and training load.

Progress

Proof that the last eight weeks worked

Weight, girths, body fat, photos and lifting volume on one timeline — with a forecast line so a bad Tuesday doesn't read as a failed cut.

  • Trend, not noise — smoothed weight with a projection to your target date.
  • Progress photos encrypted with AES-GCM on your device before they ever sync.
  • Weekly report that names what changed and what to do about it — grounded in your own numbers.
  • Overtraining guard reading HRV, sleep and resting heart rate from your watch.
Weekly report screen summarising training and nutrition.
Weight detail screen with trend line and prediction to target.
Coach

Ask it why. It answers from your data.

Not a generic chatbot with a fitness prompt. The coach reads your logged sets, your macros and your recovery, and hands back a change you can apply to tomorrow with one tap.

  • Every suggestion is a diff — you see exactly what changes before it touches your plan.
  • "See why" on every recommendation, tracing back to the sets that caused it.
  • Smart reminders that fire around your schedule, not on a fixed clock.
  • Chat transcripts never leave the device. They are stored locally and are not synced.

How the AI actually works

Three tiers. The cloud is the last resort.

Most questions never need a datacentre. GymLog AI answers at the cheapest, most private tier that can do the job, and only escalates when it has to — with your permission.

Tier 1 · Instant

The rules engine

Progressive overload, deload timing, macro targets, plateau detection. Deterministic sports-science logic running on your phone in milliseconds — no model, no network, no ambiguity.

Always on · Offline
Tier 2 · On-device

Gemma, on your phone

A small language model running locally handles the conversational work — explaining a recommendation, rewriting a session, reading a plate of food. Nothing you ask leaves the device.

Default · Offline
Tier 3 · Cloud

Gemini, only if you say so

For the questions the on-device model can't carry. Off by default. Turn it on and a compacted training context — no name, no email — goes to Google to be answered.

Privacy

What leaves this device, and what doesn't

Your training log is an unusually intimate dataset. It is treated that way — the full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

Local first

Every workout, meal and measurement is written to your phone first, then synced so you can restore it on a new device.

Health signals stay put

HRV, sleep and resting heart rate are read for the overtraining guard and stay on the device. They are never uploaded.

Nothing is sold

No data brokers, no ad profiling from your logs. Your workouts are visible to nobody but you.

Dark by design

Questions

The things people ask first

Is it really free?

Yes. Every feature is included and there is no paid tier, no trial and no paywall. The app is supported by advertising — a full-screen ad after a finished workout, plus an optional one you can watch in the coach for extra AI answers — which is how it stays that way. Ads are non-personalised: Google is never given your training, meal or health data.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes. The whole log lives in a local database, so you can train in a basement with no signal and lose nothing. Sync catches up when you're back online, and the first two AI tiers run on the device itself.

Do I have to use the AI?

No. GymLog AI is a perfectly good manual workout and food log if you never open the coach. And cloud AI is off until you switch it on.

Which wearables can it read?

Anything that feeds Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android — Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit, Whoop and Oura all route through those. GymLog AI reads steps, active calories, exercise, sleep, resting heart rate and HRV. It is read-only; nothing is written back.

Can I get my data out?

Settings → Export my data gives you the whole log as CSV or JSON. No support ticket, no waiting period.

Is this medical advice?

No. Training and diet suggestions are generated from the numbers you enter and general exercise science — not from an examination of you. The coach can be wrong, and it can be confidently wrong. Talk to a doctor before changing how you train or eat, especially if you are pregnant, injured or managing a condition.
